East African Universities to Accept Transfer Credits from Schools in Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania

If you’re a student in Kenya, Uganda or Tanzania you will soon be able to transfer credits between most universities in these countries. The Inter-University Council of East Africa (IUCEA) made the announcement late last week. Three Ministries of Higher Education and Education already concluded the Universities’ draft curriculum for selected programmes – Engineering, Medicine, Agriculture and Basic sciences. “Students undertaking the four selected subjects will be gratis to move between all East African universities from December when implementation of the programme starts,” according to their press release.

This should be welcome news for Varsity students in East Africa that have great grades and want to transfer to higher ranked institutions, as well as students that want an opportunity to study in another country. It’s nice to see East African Community moving towards full integration.
